Hélène D’Apote-Vassiliadou

Hélène Vassiliadou has been a senior lecturer (HDR obtained in 2023) in French and general linguistics at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Strasbourg since 2005. In January 2025, she has become a member of the board of directors of the Interdisciplinary Thematic Institute LiRiC (Language, Inclusion, Remediation Interculturality and Communication) and is now in charge of its Domain 1: Inclusion & Health.

The majority of her work focuses on nominal semantics (including the lexicon of emotions or odors, and polylexical expressions). In parallel, she conducts research on reformulation, paraphrase, discourse relations, textual cohesion and its markers. It is primarily through these first two areas that her research is closely linked to the ANR STAR-FLE project. A third aspect of her research uses experimental models and devices: for example, processes of categorization and approximation in French, Greek, Russian and Latvian (co-director of the PHC Osmose project; 2019), bilingualism and language disorders, management of emotions by patients with acquired brain injury (co-director of the Idex Exploratory Research GREMO-LING; 2024).
