Thomas François

Thomas François has been an Associate Professor in Applied Linguistics at UCLouvain since September 1, 2018. His research focuses on the study and evaluation of linguistic complexity for different types of audiences (foreign language learners, readers with language difficulties, readers of specialized texts, etc.). He has conducted research in the areas of automated readability assessment (DMesure), automatic text simplification (Alector, HECTOR), automatic identification of complex words (FrenLys), and, more recently, automated assessment of written productions (FIDELIA). These topics lie at the intersection of applied linguistics and natural language processing (NLP).
